Hi*Rise Opens in Denver’s Ballpark Neighborhood

Hi*Rise, a new bakery/cafe with breakfast and lunch menus featuring fresh baked breads, announces its grand opening at 2162 Larimer Street, Denver.

“We knew our emphasis had to be bread—fresh and baked on-site,” commented Owner Doug Anderson. “We’re also more than a sandwich shop. Customers can enjoy salads and delectable baked goods, like cupcakes, cookies, and pastry.”

The menu was designed by Executive Baker Jacqueline Blanchard and Anderson in a collaboration that at first seemed unlikely. Anderson, who had been a manager of restaurants in and around Denver, was searching for a baker in 2008 when he received Blanchard’s resume. A classically-trained chef from Louisiana, Blanchard has held positions at restaurants such as Restaurant August in New Orleans, Chez Panisse, and Bouchon (all in California), and most recently was chef de partie at Frasca in Boulder.

“Joining Hi*Rise gives Blanchard the opportunity to create and execute a smaller, well-rounded menu and still maintain her high standards,” said Anderson.

Influenced by street food, deli fare, and Cajun flavors, the sometimes eclectic menu revolves around bread, and good bread is always the key.

“Straightforward French baguette, rustic Pugliese, real boiled bagels, or as simply different as putting roasted yam in the focaccia, the bread at Hi*Rise stands out,” finished Anderson.

Blanchard is joined by Pastry Chef Natalia Spampinato, whose training began at Andre's Confiserie Suisse in Denver and most recently at Frasca, where she was the assistant pastry chef.

Located in the heart of Downtown Denver’s Historic Ballpark Neighborhood, Hi*Rise is open seven days a week: Monday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Filling a niche for handcrafted bread in Downtown Denver, Owner Doug Anderson had a vision for a restaurant that offered “high end” street food made from scratch. After renovating a 1978 building on Denver’s historic Larimer Street, Anderson fulfilled his dream with the opening of Hi*Rise in March 2009. With hallmarks such as Cajun Po’ Boy, muffuletta, rosemary yam focaccia, and award winning cupcakes, Hi*Rise has only begun to amaze and win over its customers. Keller Williams Northwest Market Center Hosts First Time Home Buyer Class

The Denver Northwest Market Center of Keller Williams Realty (9191 Sheridan Blvd., Suite 310, Westminster) today announced that it will host a class for first time home buyers on Tuesday, May 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at North Metro Denver Realtors Association (1505 W. First Ave., Broomfield).

“We had an overwhelming response at last month’s event,” commented Jim Lyons, a broker associate with the market center. “Based on the feedback we received, it’s clear that first time home buyers really need the resources and information that we’re providing to better understand the unique advantages available to them in 2009.”

Several factors have come together this year, including lower interest rates, large supply of homes, lower purchase prices, and tax credits, all creating a unique opportunity for many people considering a first time home purchase. As part of The American Recovery and Investment Act, the U.S. Government is offering up to an $8,000 tax credit to first time home buyers who purchase a home before November 30, 2009.

“We try to cover all the basics—from deciding whether to buy or rent to how to use the $8,000 tax credit for a down payment,” said Cheri Brandon, one of the class organizers.

Even though the class is presented by Realtors and mortgage professionals, the emphasis is strictly educational.

“Keller Williams has earned a reputation for providing excellent training and education in real estate,” said Heidi Greer Mosher, Team Leader of the market center.

Seating is limited for this free event. For more information and to RSVP, visit www.cfthb.com or call Bev Kelly at 303-463-3772.

With more than 73,000 agents and 692 franchised Market Centers in 45 states and provinces, Keller Williams Realty International is now America’s third-largest and fastest-growing residential real estate company. Keller Williams Realty franchised the Colorado Region in 1993 and has succeeded by creating a unique agent-focused model that builds partnerships between agents and local ownership through participation in a life-long, profit sharing program.

In Colorado, the company has 27 locations and more than 2,500 agents. In 2008, Keller Williams agents achieved a sales volume of more than $2.8 billion. For more information, contact Team Leader Heidi Greer Mosher at 303-420-2121 or visit www.gokellerwilliams.com.

New Anti-Cellulite Treatment Provides Long-Lasting Results

Oprah Magazine reviews SmoothShapes

Refresh Laser Spa, specializing in non-invasive anti-aging aesthetic laser treatments, announced it will be the first in Denver to offer the SmoothShapes® system for cellulite treatment at its spa at 6300 East Hampden Avenue, Suite 3132, Denver.

“We are excited to bring the very latest cellulite treatment technology to Denver,” says Kimberly Hall. “What makes us stand out is that we offer each client personal, individualized treatment, and after evaluating the superior clinical results of SmoothShapes, we found it to be the most effective treatment for cellulite.”

Designed to improve the appearance of cellulite and perfected after seven years of development, SmoothShapes is a non-invasive cellulite treatment that produces longer-lasting improvement in cellulite.

“Previous medical offerings required the client to return monthly or quarterly at best for additional treatments. With SmoothShapes clients can go six months to a year without maintenance,” notes Hall.

The SmoothShapes device uses a proprietary technology called Photomology® which immediately delivers the appearance of tighter, smoother skin.

Thermal and non-destructive, Photomology’s unique mechanism of action combines dynamic laser and light energy with mechanical massage and vacuum. This process impacts the tissue responsible for the appearance of cellulite – enlarged fat cells and inflexible collagen. SmoothShapes stimulates restoration of healthy cell activity by focusing on both the physical manifestations of cellulite and its underlying causes.

“Patients of every age are concerned about this problem,” says Hall. “SmoothShapes actually liquefies the fat in cellulite areas and moves it out of the body via the lymphatic system resulting in smoother, tighter skin with improved appearance of cellulite.”

SmoothShapes was developed by Elemé Medical, a leader in technology for all areas of body shaping.

According to Nancy M. Briefs, President and CEO of Elemé Medical, “since more than 85 percent of women develop cellulite, treating it safely and effectively is one of the holy grails of aesthetic medicine. SmoothShapes significantly improves the appearance of cellulite without the pain, bruising and post-treatment discomfort.”

The May issue of Oprah Magazine features a firsthand experience of the SmoothShapes treatment. Writer Valerie Monroe said, “…when I saw the before-and-after photos side by side, I gasped: It was remarkable. The skin looked much smoother and tighter.” Visit www.oprah.com/article/omagazine/200905-omag-cellulite/2 to view the entire article.

Body Shaping Market: The emerging body shaping market segment is expected to grow from approximately $4.5 billion (device sales, procedures and fees) in 2006 to approximately $8.1 billion in 2011. (Source: Michael Moretti, “Global Body Shaping Market Analysis,” March 2006)

About Cellulite: Dimpled, orange-peel-like skin that is bumpy and lax is actually the outward symptom of cellulite. Cellulite is a skin condition that results from enlarged fat cells trapped in an inflexible network of collagen located in the hypodermis. Women’s skin visibly displays cellulite because their subcutaneous fat layer is separated by thin vertical columns in contrast to a crisscross network in men. Cellulite can’t be controlled or improved by diet or exercise and more than 85 percent of women will develop it at some point in their life. Ultra slender supermodels, women devoted to a healthy lifestyle and diet, and even toned athletes are all susceptible to cellulite. Several factors contribute to the cause of cellulite, including genetics, hormones, vascular changes and inflammation.
