Gourmet Fine Catering’s Syd Sexton Accepts Ritz-Carlton Position
Co-Owner Departs After Nine Years with Company
DENVER, CO (January 19, 2010)—Gourmet Fine Catering, a company that sets the standard for events of distinction, announced today that Co-Owner Syd Sexton has accepted the position of Area Director for Ritz-Carlton Denver and Ritz-Carlton Bachelors Gulch.
“Prior to the creation of Gourmet Fine Catering in 2002, I spent 20 years in the hotel industry, which has always been a personal passion of mine,” commented Sexton. “With a heavy heart, I will be leaving, but as a team, the other co-owners, Darby Donohue and Kent Kidwell, and I grew this company to become a leader in the Colorado catering industry.”
After her career in the hotel industry, Sexton opened Alex Brooks Fine Catering in 1996, offering innovative custom designs and on-site delivery of high-end culinary products. In 2002, Alex Brooks Fine Catering merged with Gourmet Alternative, owned by Darby Donohue and Kent Kidwell.
“We are thrilled for Syd’s new venture,” said Donohue. “She has been a major force in the Denver catering scene and will continue her top-notch level of customer service at Ritz-Carlton.”
Gourmet Fine Catering operated out of its 10,000-square-foot space at 2601 Blake Street in Denver until June 2008, when it moved to 3600 East 40th Avenue, Denver. The company’s new building features 23,000 square feet on 1.5 acres, 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art exhibition kitchen, and a 1,500 square foot tasting room and entertaining space with built-in bar, entertainment systems, and rotation art programming.
“Last year was our best year yet in business,” remarked Kidwell. “In fact, we have created a new director of sales position, hired two new sales representatives, and an administrative assistant. We are poised for even more growth in 2011.”
