Rivé, a producer of premium reusable glass water bottles, understands the consumer concern for a water bottle that offers a safe alternative to chemical-leaching plastic and taste-changing metal bottles. This environmentally-friendly glass water bottle will be unveiling its premiere line of products at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago, Illinois from March 6 to March 8, 2011 at McCormick Place (2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois).

The International Home + Housewares Show (IHHS) offers the opportunity for the public to see first-hand consumer lifestyle and product trends for all areas of the home, both inside and out, under one roof. Attended by 60,000 people, 15,000 U.S. buyers, and 6,000 international buyers, IHHS showcases 2,000 exhibitors who themselves come from 35 different countries.

“We are excited to unveil our first line of products at this world-renown trade show alongside some of the most well respected lifestyle brands in the world,” said Rivé CEO Jillian Craig. “Americans have become more health and environmentally conscious, so the use of reusable water bottles has increased as consumers are becoming more worried about the possible detrimental health effects of drinking water from disposable bottles. Additionally, we believe that people are looking to purchase products that are not only reusable, but an expression of their personal style—which is what sets our product apart from other reusable beverage containers on the market.”

Plastic/polycarbonate bottles still have the dominant share of the reusable water bottle market, but consumer concern over Bisphenol A (BPA) has fueled the production of water bottles from materials such as glass, stainless steel, and aluminum. Of the several materials most commonly used to make water bottles, glass is the only material that has been shown to be safe and free from dangerous chemicals, while still being flavorless.

Designed to address the need for portable water in a fashionable way, Rivé’s product line consists of two different limited edition designs: Elan and Savoy. The Elan weighs 8 ounces, holds 12 ounces of liquid, and is 9.5 inches tall. Also weighing 8 ounces, the Savoy is 10.5 inches tall and holds 16 ounces. Both are acid-etched, which gives them a soft-to-the touch frosted look much like premium vodka bottles. The cap of the bottle is made of FDA-approved food grade, non-toxic ABS (acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene) plastic, and the bottom sleeve is 98% food grade silicone. “Glass is a non-toxic substance that has been used for hundreds of year to hold water and other liquids,” continued Craig. “Glass is eco-friendly in its production, as well as the ease with which it is recycled. Rivé presents consumers with a stylish and smart alternative to the typical utilitarian and boring bottles that look like you belong on a mountain. We are injecting excitement into the water bottle industry with the unveiling of our more sophisticated product line, because you are what you drink from.”
