The ASCENT Foundation hosted its 7th Annual Urban Cowboy event on Saturday, October 8 from 7:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Casselman’s Bar & Venue (2620 Walnut Street, Denver). This year’s event benefited Sewall Child Development Center.
Formed in April 2002, the ASCENT Foundation is a Denver-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and money for small charitable organizations. Their mission is to increase the philanthropic activity of the 25 to 40 year old demographic. The ASCENT board of directors is comprised of 11 people and over 30 volunteers, whose ages range from 25 to 40. ASCENT is short for A Socially Conscious Entity.
“Since 2002 the ASCENT Foundation has raised over $235,000 for Denver-area non-profit organizations,” commented Wayne Keith, founder of ASCENT. “This event is almost always a sell-out and is one of the top events of the year for the 25 to 40 crowd.”
Each year, ASCENT selects a new beneficiary. The board members select a recipient after reviewing proposals from a pool of non-profit organizations.
Urban Cowboy will included the following activities:
• Live music by Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams and The Ghost of Joseph Buck
• Mechanical bull ride
• Cow milking station
• Arm wrestling station
• Dinner buffet
• Coors beer station, cocktails and wine
• Silent auction, with price points from $50 to $500+

Sewall Child Development Center is dedicated to helping young children (birth through age five) of all abilities and learning styles to reach their full potential. Sewall’s mission is to assist young children with special needs due to disabilities, developmental delays and economic disadvantages. However, Sewall has an unwavering commitment to inclusion – so children with special needs learn and grow with their typically developing peers in Sewall’s developmental preschool and early care and education programs.
