Did you know that one in three teens report knowing a friend or peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped or physically hurt by their dating partner?
Angels Against Abuse, the student-led, East High School club in Denver has come up with an idea to address this problem in their community - and they are in the running for a $50,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. This funding will directly impact over 5,300 Denver-area students by teaching them about healthy relationships and teen dating violence.
You can help these youth by voting every day through the end of November at www.refresheverything.com/projectpave and by texting the #'s 109915 to 73774. Out of 325 other finalists, Angels Against Abuse is the only other Colorado group requesting a $50,000 grant and they need the help of the community to get the message of dating violence awareness out to their peers.
Angels Against Abuse is sponsored by Project PAVE, a Denver-area nonprofit whose mission is to empower youth to end the cycle of relationship violence. For additional information on Project PAVE, please visit www.projectpave.org.
